The SAMR model: Using technology for language teaching and learning

EAP Manager, Birmingham International Academy, the University of Birmingham, United Kingdom. 

 

The SAMR model is a useful framework for assessing the uses of technology and the way it can be used to engage language students. This lecture focuses on the framework and suggests ideas that can be practically used in language teaching and learning.

The Thursday lecture will be followed up by a practically oriented WORKSHOP:

How to design a language lesson using technology: key points and practical applications 

This workshop will look into what technology is available to use for language teaching. We will discuss the real issues that technology brings and the advantages that it has. There will also be a discussion on the considerations needed when using technology to maximise uptake by students.

The sessions will be especially of interest to students studying towards their degree in teaching. Both all students and staff are welcome.
